Removing ingredients
Using this feature, your customers can remove ingredients to which they may be allergic or which they simply might not like. To do so, they simply click the “customize” link/button to de-select the ingredients they wish to remove.
Adding supplements
To add one or more supplements, your customers select the ingredients which they wish to add. The cost of each supplement (if applicable) is clearly indicated next to the corresponding ingredient. In addition, the overall price of the customized product changes in line with the price of the ingredients added. This makes it all transparent for the customers, who will see the actual price in real time, including their supplements.
Managing ingredients
Depending on your strategy, ingredients can be managed in different ways.
Free swap
You can offer to swap products so that, when a customer removes an ingredient and adds another, only the difference in price between the two ingredients is billed. If both ingredients have the same price, the difference will be zero and there will be no surcharge.
Paid swap
If you prefer not to enable the free swap, an ingredient removed will not be deducted from the amount of the product, and any supplement added will be billed extra. Also note that, upon request and as an optional extra, you can limit the number of swapped ingredients to 2 or 3 per product.

Product sizes
With the product customization feature, you can offer the same product in different sizes at different prices. This product will still appear as a single item on your online ordering site.
If you offer supplements, bear in mind that you can define their amount depending on the product size. For example: a ham supplement on a 20cm pizza will be €1; it will be €2 on a 40cm pizza.
Variants and options
For the same product, you can also offer “variants” in terms of flavours or bases. If, for example, you offer a dessert in 4 different flavours, there’s no need to enter 4 items on your online ordering site; you will simply have one product with 4 optional variants. You can also offer “options” such as: pre-sliced pizza, or cutlery, for example.
Note that a “variant” requires the customer to make a choice, while an “option” can be “selected/checked”, and is therefore optional. Here too, you can vary the price of variants or options depending on the size of the product.
The product customization feature brings a considerable amount of flexibility to the management of your products on your online ordering site. By all means contact us to find out more about the online ordering solution from LivePepper.
